There are several different ways to get to campus throughout the day for MWRTEC. With many different participants coming in via many different modes of transportation, this page should help you find the most affordable and convenient way to park or travel to campus each day.

Summer Session I begins May 16th, so there will be many commuters and faculty parking at UK and many of the “E” lots closest to the music facilities will be at capacity by 8 or 9am each day. A permit will be required to park on any campus lot. Campus Police do not ticket after 7:30 pm Monday-Thursday or after 3:30 pm on Fridays and do not ticket on weekends. There is also street parking near and around the fine arts building, this also typically fills up very early in the day. If you only plan on being on campus Friday and Saturday or only one weekday (Thursday or Friday) the best option would be to pick up a single-day visitor parking pass ($6) from the UK Transporation Office at the Press Avenue Garage (PS #6) 721 Press Avenue, Lexington, KY 40506-0571. Hours of operation are 7:30am to 5pm M-F and their number is: (859) 257-5757 (hit 0 to get directly to an operator). This permit will allow you access to any garage or “E” Lot. The closest “E” lots to Fine Arts and the Singletary Center are shown below and are located off of Linden Walk and Rose St.

If you plan on being on campus for the duration of the event, the most cost-effective parking option is to purchase a one-week summer permit for $10.00. This will not go on sale until May 16th. You can call the transportation office on the number above to reserve or pick up in person at the UK Transporation office, the address and hours are listed above. This pass will allow you to park in any yellow space on the diagram below and the Cornerstone Garage (PS #5).

The Cornerstone Garage, located at 409 South Limestone, has an entrance and exit on South Limestone and on Upper Street. The cost for parking is $2 per hour with a $16 per exit maximum. The Cornerstone Garage is free and open to the public on weekends, beginning at 7 p.m. Friday through 10 p.m. Sunday. Overnight parking is also permitted on Friday and Saturday nights, but all vehicles must exit the garage before 10 p.m. on Sunday. This garage is a 6-minute walk to the fine arts facilities.

There are also hourly options for loading and unloading instruments and people. This is also a good option for those who are only coming in for a short amount of time during ticketed hours. The most convenient option is the horseshoe-shaped drive in front of the Singletary Center for the Arts. There are parking meters located there with a 45-minute limit. Pictured below and highlighted in yellow.

The next closest metered lot is next to the Gatton Student Center at 160 Avenue of Champions. The rate is $2 an hour and it is only a 3-minute walk from the Fine Arts Facilities, highlighted by the yellow arrow in the image below.
